Active Alerts:
Planning for Heat, Smoke, and Wildfire

Join Representatives from NOVFD, Emergency Management Cowichan’s FireSmart Program, and Dr. Angela Eykelbosch from Island Health to learn how our community can better prepare for heat domes, smoke and wildfire threats.

Presentations will touch on emergency planning, hazard mitigation, and evacuation alerts. Residents will also learn how to create an inexpensive air filter for wildfire smoke in the home and to beat the summer heat. Event hosts from the Fire Department will address local concerns.

The FireSmart team will identify local wildfire risks and how to mitigate hazards on your property. We’ll cover Firesmart Home Assessments: a free service provided by EMC. Also find out how your community can gain recognition and funding for neighbourhood FireSmart activities.

Question and answer time follows with our presenters and hosts.
