IMPORTANT NOTICE: Temporary Closure of Bald Mountain Park due to Wildfire

September 18, 2026: On September 17, 2026, a wildfire was discovered in Bald Mountain Park, located on the Bald Mountain Peninsula near the community of Youbou in Electoral Area I. BC Wildfire is currently on scene and responding to the fire.

The fire is not near any CVRD trails in Bald Mountain Park. We are temporarily closing the park to the public to support BC Wildfire’s efforts.

Effective 12 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026 the Category 1 open fire (campfire) prohibition in the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction will be rescinded. There remains a Category 2 and Category 3 Fire Ban.
